This blue plaid dress is inspired by Lumber Jills, female forestry workers who carried out vital work during the Second World War while the men were away fighting. 

Designed around an original vintage day dress, it has some key features that add to its authenticity as an accurate replica:

• Button-through bodice with an additional side zip to make it a practical ready-to-wear garment.
• Wing collar secured by shoulder yokes, so as not to flap around during work hours.
• Short sensible sleeves with turnup cuffs.
• Gathering to the shoulders front and back to add a dash of femininity.
• Flattering fit and flare skirt.
• Waist belt with period-accurate Lucite style buckle.

The Lumber Jill dress is made of a woven synthetic fabric that has the feel of a light cotton but with slightly more stretch to it, for maximum comfort. The exact fabric composition is 98% polyester and 2% elastane. 

Our model Alice (blue colourway) is 5ft 3 and wears a UK 10. Daisy (flax colourway) is 5ft 5 and wears a UK 12.
